Traditional and creative products from Indonesia being exhibited in the windows of Harrods’ Door 9 are just a part of the multitude of Indonesian products and tourism destinations promotion which are themed ‘Remarkable Indonesia’.

Being the most exclusive shopping centre in the UK , or even in Europe , Harrods are visited by tens of thousands of people every day. That is one of the reasons which encourage the Indonesian Embassy in London , in cooperation with the Ministry of Culture and Tourism and the Ministry of Trade of Indonesia , to hold the tourism and products promotion in Harrods.
In the month-long promotional activity, Indonesia ’s traditional and creative products which are rich in culture are being displayed. However, it is not only commodities and products that are being exhibited but also various tourism destinations in Indonesia which cater to all kind of would-be visitors. In addition, traditional Indonesian arts and cultural performances is scheduled also such as the art of batik (ancient, manual technique of dyeing cloth), various beautiful dances from all corners of Indonesia and fashion shows displaying the creativity of Indonesian designers.
Walking through all the departments in Harrods will definitely leaves you famished. When the urge to eat strikes you, then you have to try and enjoy the assortment of Indonesian dishes being served in Harrods Food Hall and also in the Georgian Restaurant, located in the 4th Floor of Harrods, an exclusive, elegant dining restaurant which have won many awards in the culinary world. Appetizing cuisines ranging from tempe to chicken satay and soto will be served in those restaurants, where you will find delicious food which will surely leaves you longing for more.
The theme of this promotion, ‘Remarkable Indonesia’ is an integrated theme of Indonesia ’s promotion in various fields all over the world, in areas ranging from investments, trade, tourism and arts and culture. It is hoped that the promotion will increase the popularity of Indonesia to all who visited Harrods, which are not only British denizens but also other visitors from many different countries in the world.
The promotional activity was officially opened on 8 April 2010. The opening attended by the Ambassador of Indonesia to the United Kingdom, H.E. Mr. Yuri Octavian Thamrin, the Director General for Marketing of the Indonesian Ministry for Culture and Tourism, Mr. Sapta Nirwandar, and other business and community leaders in the UK which have an affinity to Indonesia .
