Deutsche Bank: RI economy to grow by 6%
Despite the looming global economic downturn, Germany-based Deutsche Bank predicts that the Indonesian economy will remain strong this year with an expected growth rate of 6 percent.
“We believe that the economy will continue moving forward despite the weakening of the commodity market, which could slow economic growth,” Deutsche Bank chief economist Taimur Baig said on Monday as quoted by kompas.com.
He said that the economy would also maintain its momentum in most sectors.
Taimur asserted that Indonesia's economy would become a strong foundation that spurred consumption as well as investment in the country and in turn generated more jobs and income to the people.
He added that Deutsche Bank predicted Asia’s economic growth would reach its lowest point in the first quarter of this year. (drs)
