AWARDING SCHOLARSHIPS

On 19 February 2009 the President of the Premier Oil Mick Jackson symbolicaly presented the Premier Oil Scholarship scheme to the representatives from three Universities in Indonesia, Haluoleo University - Kendari, University of North Sumatera Utara - Medan and University of Tanjung Pura - Pontianak at Hotel Ritz Carlton in Jakarta.

The presentation was attended by officials from the Department of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia, a representative from the Indonesian Embassy in London, a representative of BP Migas as well as staff of Premier Oil in Indonesia.

The £36,000 scholarship, which is part of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme of Premier Oil for the benefit of the people of Indonesia, is divided as grants to 250 students in those three universities.

Mr Jackson conveyed his appreciation to the Department of Foreign Affairs and Indonesian Embassy in London for facilitating the CSR to establish links with the three Indonesian universities. This kind of cooperation with the Indonesian Government and Third Level Institutions was the first of its kind, and Premier Oil is looking forward future further cooperation.

The Director General of Information and Public Diplomacy, Andri Hadi stated that this program is inline with the commitment of the Government of Indonesia to increase its education budget as indicated by the 20% increase in the national budget this year. * Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia – London
