Inflation slowed further in May to 6.04 percent year-on-year, Central Statistics Agency (BPS) head Rusman Heriawan announced Monday.

Last month saw an inflation of 0.04 percent, and there was deflation in 26 cities, of the 66 cities surveyed by the BPS. Between January and May, inflation reached only 0.1 percent.

"In April, year-on-year inflation was 7.31 percent. There was a huge decrease, as in May last year inflation was high at 1.41 percent because of the fuel price hike," said Rusman.

"If in June inflation continues to slow, [full-year] inflation may be lower, touching 5 percent," he added.
