Death toll reaches 57 in W. Java quake

The National Disaster Management Body (BNPB) has reported that 57 people died after a 7.3 Richter Scale magnitude earthquake shook West Java on Wednesday.

Out of the 57 people, 21 are from Cianjur, 10 are from Garut, two are from Sukabumi, nine are from Tasikmalaya, eight are from Bandung , one is from West Bandung, two are from Bogor and four are from Ciamis, the BNPB stated.

Kompas.com reported that hundreds of people were wounded while thousands of others were forced to evacuate. (ewd)
