Indonesian Ambassador Presents Credentials to the Irish President in Dublin

The Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Indonesia to Ireland, H.E. Yuri Octavian Thamrin presented his credentials to the President of Ireland, H.E. Mary McAleese in Dublin on 17 June 2008. The credentials presentation was held at Aaras an Uachtarain (the Presidential House) with a full honours ceremony.

The presentation itself marked the official assumption of duties as Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia to Ireland, resident in London.  During the ceremony, the Ambassador was accompanied by Mrs. Risandrani Thamrin, Mr. Adrian Thamrin and Minister Counsellor for Political Affairs of the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia.

On presenting his credentials, the Ambassador conveyed to the Irish President and the people of Ireland, warm regards from the President of the Republic of Indonesia, H.E. Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono. The Ambassador also highlighted his sincere desire to maintain and further strengthen the cordial relationship which happily exists between the two countries.

In her informal remarks, President of Ireland stated that the greeting given by the President of the Republic of Indonesia to herself and the people of Ireland, was warmly received. The President also conveyed Ireland’s desire to maintain and further strengthen their bilateral relationship.

The closing ceremony of the presentation was marked by a reception and a full guard of honour inspection.

To mark the credentials presentation, the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia held a Vin d’Honneur reception, which was attended by officials from the Irish Department of Foreign Affairs and Department of Enterprise, Trade and Employment, members of the Diplomatic Corps in Dublin, Honorary Consul of the Republic of Indonesia in Dublin and business representatives.

At the evening, the Embassy also held a reception with the Indonesian Community in Ireland, to introduce the new Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia to Ireland. The reception was attended by around 100 Indonesian community from many parts of Ireland, among others: Dublin, Kildare, Limerick, Anthone, Wicklow, Galway and Belfast.
