The Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia Presented His Letter of Credence to
Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II

On Thursday, 17 July 2008, the Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia to Great Britain, H.E. Yuri Octavian Thamrin presented his Letter of Credence to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.

The ceremony took place at the Buckingham Palace in London, to which the Ambassador was escorted by Sir Anthony Figgis, Her Majesty's Marshal of Diplomatic Corps, in a horse-drawn palace carriage. In the Grand Hall, the Ambassador was greeted by a senior official of the Foreign Commonwealth Office, before proceeding to the presentation of credentials in the Palace.

During the credentials ceremony H.E. Yuri Octavian Thamrin was accompanied by his wife Madame Risandrani Thamrin, and members of the Indonesian Embassy staffs. H.E. Yuri Octavian Thamrin conveyed President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono’s kind regards to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and in turn, Her Majesty congratulated H.E. Yuri Octavian Thamrin for his new post as the new Indonesian Ambassador to Great Britain. Her Majesty also expressed high hopes for the two countries’ bilateral relations and cooperation in the years to come.

 

To mark the credentials presentation, the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia in London held a Vin d'Honneur reception which was attended by British government officials, from the Foreign and Commonwealth Office, the Diplomatic Corps in London, business and mass media representatives, as well as members of the Indonesian community in the United Kingdom.
